Sándor "Soso" Lakatos

He has been playing on stage since the age of 12. After his first band, Black Birds, he achieved remarkable success with his next band, Next Generation, then a group of 14-16 year olds, including third place at the Getxo International Jazz Festival. They also performed at the Spitz and the 606 Club in London.

Soso was already playing with top musicians in Hungary when he went to study in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, at the age of 20, where he attended masterclasses with such world-renowned musicians as Miguel Zenon, Branford Marsalis, Gerard Presencer and Brad Mehldau. His excellent progress was recognized with a Huygens Scholarship and he performed in many prestigious clubs in the Netherlands and Europe. During the seven years he spent in Amsterdam, new opportunities and worlds opened to him, enabling him to grow both as a musician and as a person. 

Since returning to Hungary after his studies, he has lent his talents to several local bands and projects, including the Balázs Bágyi New Quartet, Tzumo Exclusive, Bart’z eColony Band and his own group.
